Reeves was a quick close for Duke
Newly added 7-footer, Christian Reeves, from Oak Hill Academy, was able to see his dreams come true with Duke commitment.
To say the addition of Christian Reeves was a little bit of surprise commitment for the Duke fan base would be an absolute truth.
Rumors of a potential commitment began to leak out yesterday for the senior center who was a new name on the Blue Devil radar.
Bull City Hoops spoke with his father, John, on the phone while his son announced his commitment to be Jon Scheyer’s sixth 2022 commitment. The three-star center’s courtship with Duke was brief, but obviously very impactful.
“They (Duke staff) were in the gym to watch Caleb (Foster). They saw Christian also and he’s a legit seven footer who can run, block shots. They were actually recruiting him for several weeks,” said John Reeves.
With the potential one-and-done candidates that Scheyer is bringing in next season, Reeves offers a more long-term solution as a big man with a lot of his best basketball ahead of him.
“They just offered him (Monday). They see him as a guy who can run, protect the rim and clean up around the basket. He’s got soft hands, good size and just such a high ceiling. He’s an active defender,” he continued.
As for how his son feels?
“As you can imagine, he’s very excited. It was a dream of his.”
