Sunday morning post. All signs are continuing to point to Duke. Sources close to the bball office are tight-lipped and people in a position to know things seem very optimistic. The accidental verbiage that I’ve heard from two people also scream Duke. At this point, I’d be relatively surprised if it was Kentucky. I believe it’s Duke but until I have confirmed myself (not just jumping on hearsay) I’ll never go with 100%. Our staff will be prepared foe an announcement tomorrow.
I exchanged some additional messages last night with some people in a position to know things. And also had another phone call with someone close to Lively.
I still don’t think the kid has told any of the staffs. That is what I was told. I have heard enough accidental verbiage to feel that Duke has a strong chance. But I don’t feel confident enough to call it. So as of Saturday morning, I’ll sit with 60-40 Duke over Kentucky.
I’ll chime in if I learn anything new but I don’t plan on working the phones much today.

Yup, I haven’t seen such a momentum shift in a recruitment in years. When Lively announced his commitment date at first, Kentucky was getting most of the buzz, then it quickly shifted to pro Duke buzz ever since.
The truth is that the lively camp was tight lipped But Kentucky only had a lead until his Duke visit. Combine that with the fact that UK has been heavily involved with adem bona since July and Lively's friendship with the Duke commits. So theoretically UK never really had a lead Thus the 1 cb pick for so long. Rumors are the bona recruitment was/is a huge turnoff

If I had a confidence meter I'd put it at 5. Don't ever want to say anything is for certain in recruiting (see Patrick Baldwin, Jr.). Lively is coming to Duke!!! Another cb pick came in. My one concern is that his camp could possibly be giving false intel to increase the suspense but by all accounts Lively is a stand up guy!

It could all be total fodder but I was told from an AAU coach from Philly that the Duke in home was a game changer BUT both UK & Duke committed players are going at Lively hard. So here’s the thing that the coach said that was of interest and I’ll quote “with the recent 5 stars picking UK and all the talk about UK’s class being ranked just ahead of Duke as well as the talk of who ever gets a Dereck will be a solid #1, that Dereck wanted to end the debate.” Now he didn’t say anymore but he did he did end by saying “the Duke visit was great”
If the Duke staff doesn’t know, who does have info on this besides the Lively family? Would have to believe info could come from Duke, UK, Penn State or Michigan programs
There have only been a couple of picks (1ea for Duke & UK, I think) in the crystal ball. I assume that means this one is still a toss-up. Given that the announcement is Monday, when are these picks likely to start rolling in? When Lively informs one/both staff and it leaks?
Yeah, I think everyone is struggling to get a confident read on it. Lively's camp has been good about keeping it within their circle, so at this point it might come down to the leak once a staff(s) get word.
Duke makes way too much sense. Shared this on another board but on Keels IG Live today, he panned today Amile with “duke needs lively” and Amile said “Another one.”
Yeah, not saying he's not a good fit for Kentucky. He's a great fit for them. For Duke, he and Kyle are entirely different players that could really complement one another. Even with Kyle on board, Duke still needs that presence that can play the five. Kyle can do that, but it's not his game. The perfect fit comes in because Kyle's presence allows Lively play to his own strengths and vice versa. Without Lively (or another big), Kyle would potentially play out of position to a degree. Duke adapts, as we know, but to get the best version of Kyle, a guy like Lively is perfect. Again, Kyle gives Lively that same option.
Kentucky is on fire right now on the recruiting trail. I’m not confident enough right now to call it either way. I’ll pretty cautious to only stick my neck out when I feel sure.
