Five-star PG Tyrese Proctor commits
Duke added a commitment from class of 2023 star point guard Tyrese Proctor out of Australia.
The class of 2023 continues to grow, as Duke head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff have landed yet another elite prospect.
On Thursday evening, Tyrese Proctor, a 6-foot-4 point guard from NBA Global Academy, announced his decision to commit to the Blue Devils.
Proctor told On3 that, “ever since I first stepped on campus at Duke, it just felt like home.”
Proctor, took an official visit to Duke on Feb. 14 and was offered by Scheyer and his staff in late January, chose Duke over Arizona and the G-League.
The Australian native is heralded for his ability to handle the ball, his decision-making and score at a high level. He is considered to be among the best in his class, and joins guards Caleb Foster and Jared McCain in the class, giving Duke a trio that is surely the envy of schools across the nation.
Proctor will the second Aussie to suit up for the Blue Devils after Jack White came to Durham and played four years for Mike Krzyzewski.
McCain’s father, Rod, played at Ole Miss before playing professionally in Australia.
In addition to Proctor, McCain and Foster, Duke has four-star forward Sean Stewart committed for the class of 2023 as well. Duke now awaits Friday’s decision from Mackenzie Mgbako, the nation’s No. 3 overall player in the junior class. He will choose between Duke, Kentucky, Memphis and Ohio State.
